EXECUTIVE ORDER (No 4 of 2007)

TO: MINISTRY OF PHYSICAL PLANNING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT

URBAN DEVELOPMENT AND CONTROL

Preamble
The contravention of building plan approvals and urban & town planning laws has led to the uncontrolled development multi-storey buildings within various areas of the State. The developments exert enormous pressure on existing infrastructural support services (roads, drains, waste collection, parking and traffic management).

Order
In light of the above and by the authority invested in me as Governor under and by virtue of the 1999 Constitution, I hereby order that all applications for new buildings and redevelopment (above a 1-Storey building within Apapa, Ikeja (GRA), Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Surulere and Old Yaba must be referred to me for my written consent, before the approval of the Honourable Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development.

This order is intended to improve the internal management of the State Government and is not intended to, and does not create any rights or benefits, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by a party against Lagos State, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, agents, or any other person.
