Fashola Expresses Confidence In LASUTH Services
Jan 22, 2008 - Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) has expressed implicit confidence in the facilities and services obtainable at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
Governor Fashola who spoke with newsmen after undergoing his bi annual dental medical check up commended the level of professionalism displayed by the medical personnel at the dental clinic saying he is very satisfied.
The Governor said his visit to use the hospital’s facility which is the first since he became a Governor is a demonstration of his implicit confidence in the services obtainable at the hospital.
In his words: “I came to scale and clean my teeth. Knowing full well the kind of facilities we put here, I decided to come here for it has been a while. If I had no confidence in the facilities here I would not entrust my dental care to it”
The Governor promised to establish a cardiac nephrology and cancer centre at the Gbagada General Hospital annex of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) before the end of this year.
Fashola said setting up such facilities would allow the teaching hospital (LASUTH) provide students training and specialist facilities while general treatment would be referred to the General Hospital .
The Governor promised to replicate the kind of facilities obtainable at the LASUTH dental centre at all hospitals across the state, adding that this would take the pressure off the hospital as many still patronize the hospital because of the kind of facilities it boasts off.
The Governor recalled that the clinic started as an outpost medical centre of the defunct Western region but has undergone a lot of rehabilitation in the last four and half years culminating in an ongoing renewal of all the facilities in the clinic.
The Governor who also inspected some parts of the Ayinke House which was donated by late philanthropist, Sir Mobolaji Bank Anthony was told by the head of department of Obstetric and Gynecology, Dr Bamidele Oshinusi that the building which has been in use since 1991, needs overhauling as the plumbing system is now faulty.
