Y2010 Budget Of Consolidation

Nov 17, 2009 - Mr Speaker, Distinguished members of the House, Ladies and Gentlemen, we live in truly challenging but also very exciting times.

I acknowledge the path-finding work of the previous administration of which I was a proud member and the efforts it has taken since 1999 to get us to where we are.

At this period of our national life, I remain all too aware of the promise that our Party, the Action Congress represents as the model of progressive thinking and democratic content. I understand that it is the burden of our generation to deliver that promise with the support and guidance of our leaders.

I understand also that it is only those who are strong, determined, resourceful, resilient and uncompromising in their commitment to excellence that can succeed and thrive in times like this. I have no doubt that the enterprising people of Lagos have the courage, ingenuity, self-confidence and will to actualize the immense potentials of this State so abundantly blessed by nature and God Almighty.

It will take a lot of hard work. It will require a great deal of sacrifice. It will demand tremendous individual and collective discipline. But I have no doubt that as a State we will, in the shortest possible time, realize our manifest destiny and rank among the most stable, secure and prosperous Mega cities on earth.

On my part and that of our Administration, I solemnly pledge that we will continue to show the example and on the path of excellence we shall neither fail nor falter.
